CHAPTER 10 “THE LEASH”

Calvin's mother writes again. He considers how his supposed father has never written to him. Calvin's only pen pal, Wakely, stopped writing when Calvin said he wanted his father dead. Calvin has never told Elizabeth about his father, fearing her reaction.

Elizabeth never leashed Six-Thirty before the city's leash law because he's so smart. Elizabeth convinces Calvin to use the leash when he runs with Six-Thirty in the mornings. Elizabeth can't sleep and goes to work early one dark, rainy day. Calvin runs to work and meets her, leaching Six-Thirty. Calvin dies 37 minutes after leaving home.
